My father owned a 1976 Suzuki RE-5 and a couple of other bikes and when dad passed in April of 2000, ownership passed on to me. Dad's RE-5 is in great shape, starts and runs well, and was taken good care of. Dad was German and a master mechanic and body man most of his 72 years so "meticulous" doesn't come close to how he cared for his motorcycles. Since Dad's passing ten years ago, his bikes have been garage kept. I start them every month or so just to keep them oiled and running but the reality that I will never register them again has finally set in and I believe it's time to let them go. For sentimental reasons, I'd like the RE-5's new owner to be someone who genuinely cares about bikes in general and will give Dad's RE-5 a proper home. I plan on listing the bike on eBay but would love for someone here to have it so once I get the auction up, I'll let everyone here know. I'll put together some video clips and current pictures hopefully tomorrow which will answer any questions you may have about the bike's condition and performance. Thanks for reading...... -Fred Luhn Jr.

Hi! Fred you mentioned your father had a couple of other motorcycles as well as the RE5a what makes are/where they and have you still got them. Thanks George. Had an old 650 Honda and a 1995 Kawasaki Vulcan. Only one left besides the RE-5 is the last bike he bought before he died. It's a 1999 VN750 Kawasaki Vulcan which is in great shape but not running. I never had the time to bring it in to see what was wrong w/it. I ride a ZX-14 Ninja and cruisers aren't really my "thing". When dad died, I drove this bike for a few months. One day it made a noise like it had a nut rolling around inside the engine so I shut it down and stored it. A year later I started it up and it was making the same noises so I shut it down and it's been sitting in my garage ever since. Below it's pictured with it's custom, large gas tank in place getting ready for a Toys for Tots run. Currently, the stock gas tank is mounted. Never put it up for sale since it's not running and I figured it wouldn't sell so I keep it in the same spot in the garage Dad use to park it and talk to it once in a while lol.
