I want to introduce myself as I am new to this board and new to a '76 RE5 barn find I acquired back in the Spring. Although I've owned 3 Hondas, 4 Yamahas and 5 BMWs, this is my first Suzuki. The bike was put into storage around 1988. The VIN is RE5-15811. Odometer shows 8745 miles. Even though I purchased it 7 months ago, it has sat patiently in my shop until a few days ago when I started sorting it out. I do not believe there is a single missing part other than the threaded bezel ring that holds the ignition switch in the dash. The plastic tab is broken from the bottom of the left side panel. I removed the spark plug and have been squirting a bit of Marvel Mystery oil into the chamber and rotating the engine with the kick starter. Everything seems to turn normally and makes what appears to be normal compression sounds. I drained the coolant and it appeared new! No signs of corrosion and I've refilled it with fresh. Mice had had their way with the air filter foam and made it all the way to the carb. Their stores of small seeds have been removed and the carb has been removed and detailed as well as the fuel petcock. Fortunately, no wiring was eaten by the little critters. I put a battery in the bike and all electrics seem to work. The motor turns over freely. The CDI makes a high pitched whine which I understand is normal but I am getting no spark with either the original plug or a new one I used for a test. The calipers and MC are off awaiting overhaul. I was excited to find out about Rotary Recycle and plan to be in touch with them soon. I've downloaded the parts catalog and the service manual thanks to the information from this forum. Any advice on trouble-shooting the no-spark problem would be welcomed. Thanks in advance for any help! I'll get some pics posted soon. Paul
