I am getting toward the end of my restoration. The exhaust pipes have no huge corrosion issues but polishing alone will not match the rest of the restoration.
Has anybody ever had the exhaust pipe re-chromed?
Anything I need to do in particular besides the normal prep work?

I had mine done about 10 years ago and no special preparation was required.
Having said that, it took me a while to find a shop that would do it. A couple of places rejected the job on the grounds that the pipes would contain fibreglass and they wouldn't take my word that they didn't (once the "spark arrestor" is removed- just the tube held in by four screws in the end of the pipe).
Finally found a place that had no qualms about the job and the pipes look as good today as 10 years ago when they were done.
I"ve heard talk about plugging the pipe etc but none of this seems necessary.
Good luck, post pics of the resto when you're finished.
