Hi all..
So here my question for today,,,
The last owner re-did the front brake seals (calipers and master cyl).....all good - however the brake(s) are gripping a little on the wheel - I can hardly turn the wheel and the brake lever it so firm -with minimal movement to the squeeze - firmer than anything I've ever experienced.
I bled them today and they are just the same....
How can this be??
thanx all

The problem is most likely the master cylinder. I would strip and clean it... see if that makes a difference.
If I am reading correctly, you just got this bike, Correct?
One of the things I do with any "new" old bike before I trust it to carry mine or anyone elses butt, is strip and service the entire hydraulic braking system.
It is not necessary to do a proper "rebuild" of everything, unless you want to, but it gives you an idea of the condition of the system.
Stripping/cleaning/reassembly is not difficult, just time consuming.
Then you have a baseline to know whare to start from...
Just my 2 cents
Best,

open both bleed nipples to release the preasure then see if the wheel will turn if yes then the master cylinder is at fault, if no then its piston bind or the slides want cleaning and greaseing.

One or both of the brake rotors could be slightly warped as well. If releasing the hydraulic pressure doesn't free it up, before taking the pads out, loosen the calliper mounting bolts so the clallipers can move the rotor, rotate the wheel and watch them. It it turns freely and the callipers wobble on their mounting bolts, get a dial indicator and check the rotor run-out.
