I see that Castrol 20/50 weight is the recommended oil to use in an RE5 sump.
What is the recommended oil to use in the engine/transmission?

same oil in everything although some owners use a different oil in the transmission.

Castrol 20W/50 in the sump and oil tank and 10W/40 motorcycle specific gear oil in the transmission, which in my own experience prevents clutch sticking when laid up and seems to give the starter clutch an easier time.......just my opinion though.

I had castrol 20w/50 in everything in mine but the starter kept snagging and wouldn't spin enough to start it, I changed the tranny oil to 10w/40 and hey presto the starter works, which of course means the motorcycle also works, woo hoo.

What about the oil injection pump oil? How many miles do you get out of that tank before a refill?

I don't know about the mileage, but I believe the best thing to use in the injection tank right now is Shell Rotella.

The under seat oil tank will give you about 1300 klm for 1 litre of oil. I don't remember the exact capacity of the tank but you'll get over 1000 klm before needing a refill.
The oil tank warning light is also VERY conservative. It comes on way too early, possibly Suzuki being paranoid about owners running dry.

If I fill my oil tank 3/4 full and mark the level then ride 100 miles the level drops by 10mm.
