Good morning everybody,
Since I purchased my RE5 I have generally had sticking clutch problems when the bike is cold.
Having now stripped the bike for renovation and dismantled the engine unit, I was thinking whether to replace the clutch plates or degrease them and refit. The bike has only covered 5,500 miles, the clutch plates do not look worn.
Has anybody experienced the same problem and does degreasing the clutch plates and using new oil in the transmission cure this problem? If not I'll buy new clutch plates.
Thanks for now.
Guy

Cost of replacing the clutch plates for new shouldn't break the bank and personally I'd also change the clutch springs for uprated ones at the same time.

My clutch has also been dragging especially when cold making changing into first gear and pulling away a problem.Plates all degreased and checked.Clutch basket and plates all checked for burrs/chatter marks etc.Clutch adjustment all checked.I improved the problem by using a cable tie on the clutch lever overnight.I am hoping my slipping starter clutch problem and changing the transmission oil from Castrol XL20/50 to Motul two-stroke gearbox oil will improve it.Cheers,Shaun.
