Feedback is coming through and the jet change does have an immediate positive effect on the hesitation. Seems like a bit of experimenting from the #90 size to #100 to find what works for you is in order.

For me the 100 jet size is better but the flat spot problem was really enormous...
Of course if you change this jet size remember you'll have to find again the best pilot screw setup (probably less opening)...

I put in the 95 jet last night, re5 fired right up and idled beautifully! I haven't had a chance to ride yet, might try and do that tonight. I should have picked up a 90, 92.5, and a 97.5 to complete the set. At less than $3 each I don't know why I didn't!

95 was a bit too rich for my RE5, I need to go pick up a 90 and a 92.5 now.

I'd like to experiment with different jets. I don't have a terrible flat spot but it's there and I think I have everything adjusted correctly. Does anybody have a good internet place to get them? I've never messed with jets before. What do I ask for? Specifics please! I'll buy several sizes...
Thanks!

#90 worked best for me.

If anybody has a good online source for jets I'd appreciate it. No good motorcycle shops near me anymore. Nothing at all...

I just called these guys and they didn't know what "style" the RE-5 was. Does anybody have more info on where and what to order? I'm wanting to buy several sizes to experiment with. Thanks!

My jets have not shown up yet but I got the process started by looking at the parts catalog to see how to swap these jets. It's not clear to me. What's the general procedure for swapping jets???

Just pull the intake elbow off the side of the carb. There is a big bolt on the lower left corner of the flat surface behind the elbow, remove the bolt. Then inside the hole that's left you can see the idle jet. Unscrew it with a flat screwdriver then you must be creative to get the jet out. I used a stick I broke off a tree in my backyard to jam in and pull it out. Goes back in much easier!

Put a spot of grease on the end of the screwdriver and the jet should stick to the end (only a small amount)!

I didn't even know but I had a 90 in mine already! so I put in a 95 and its great very little hesitation (will most likely just tune it out with minor adjustments) and just seems like its got more kick with the 95. I also got a much more lumper idle with the 95. Sounds cool brap brap brap

I think the way to go is to get the correct timing of the port valve as close as you can, that should only give you slight but annoying hesitation unless you are one of the lucky ones that need no up jetting, then try the next size jet up and there is a good chance it will give a positive result that you are happy with.
I think if there is a big hesitation because the port valve timing is way out then using a much bigger jet may mask the main problem.
Tip to remove the jet, use a wooden cocktail stick, the taper on the stick locks in the hole nicely.
