Hi guys, I need a little help. I can't seem to find were the hose on the point housing is to go. All of the vacuum ports have hoses already. And it has been so long since I took it apart that I don't remember were it went. Thanks Bill Q.

Steve, just checked mine as well.As you say goes nowhere. The advance mechanism is a centrifugal type[weights],so no vacuum needed to operate it.Why would they install this hose, could it be some sort of breather for the points assembly in case the seal starts leaking?

not sure I asked Sam a couple of years ago and he could not see any reason for it either and he said the inside bore of the hose is so small it would not be effective anyway.

Thanks guys for the help. I was up to midnight last night working on the RE5 I got all the electrical stuff working, all lights and switches are working now. I changed about 6 bulbs in the spedo housing. It is strange how when you don't use it things just stop working. Well all I need now is to get some brake hoses made and to get the gas tank put back together, and it is start it up time ;D

AS TO THE PURPOSE OF THE 'BREATHER HOSE TO THE CONTACT POINTS AREA. INDEED IT IS A BREATHER BUT NOT IN CASE THE SEAL LEAKS BUT TO KEEP IT FROM LEAKING! AS POINTS OPEN AND CLOSE (ESPECIALLY IF THE CONDENSER ACTING COMPONENT IS GOING SOUTH OR IF THE POINTS ARE GETTING PITTED OR DIRTY AN AMOUNT OF OZONE IS PRODUCED. IF THE OZONE WAS IN A SEALED ENVIRONMENT IT WOULD ATTACK ANY AND ALL RUBBER PARTS IN THE AREA (IE. THE OIL SEAL) YOU WILL FIND A VENTING MECHANISM OF SOME TYPE OR ANOTHER IN EVERY APPLICATION USING CONTACT POINTS THAT I KNOW OF. AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT THEY TAUGHT US AT U.S. SUZUKI SCHOOL IN......WELL QUITE A NUMBER OF YEARS AGO. Jimmy
