Board member RE5ROTARY recently posted on Facebook his final solution to touring with full fairing and bags. I'll let Terry explain:The fuel range on my RE5 can vary from 135ks before hitting reserve up to 170ks on a good day and who knows how far I can go on reserve as I'm never that brave. Fuel consumption is probably worse now that I have the full touring kit fitted. Fuel range was complained about even on the original road tests. There is a trip I often do through Arthurs Pass in New Zealand and it's around 200ks from Greymouth to Springfield for fuel stops but I'm always nervous about getting through on a tank full so I normally stop at a small card pump about 30ks from Greymouth and brim the tank. Always an inconvenience especially when travelling with a group. For the 30 years I've owned the bike I've always thought about a bigger tank, well, I finally got around to doing something about it. The world's first long range RE5 tank! We split the tank at the seams then added an inch all the way round at the bottom thus lifting the main body of the tank. The inner section of the tank just needed an insert added around the recess for the radiator cap. I will post some more photos showing the details. It was quite simple in the end without changing the basic shape of the tank. Terry will be back with more photos and a final tank capacity

Great job, It looks like factory the way you did that. Do you know how much the capacity was increased?

I really like that. Years past I had carried a jug of gas on occasion.

How about a couple of bladders inserted in the fairing?

Good job. Will you have to extend the radiator neck?
