Hello to all. I found your board looking for some info, and was welcomed by Wayne. My name is Emmett, and I am in Rhode Island. I have had my rotary projects for some time. I bought a 76 R5 from a cycle salvage yard around 96, met Sam by phone shortly after. Frame, engine, carb, no body work or exhaust. Found a 75 parts bike in Springfield MA, and did some parts trading and purchasing over the phone, but unfortunately never got to meet him. After Sam's passing, making a living got in the way of having a life and my projects got shelved. I never got the chance to deal with Jess, but have heard only good about him. I have now pulled my bikes out, and want to proceed. After putting together mine, I will have LOTS of spare parts, including a spare engine. She's pretty rough, but I have saved worse. Pics will be coming. Here goes nuttin'! Emmett

Welcome to the group Emmett! This board has some very knowledgeable people from all over the world so you will likely get your questions answered. I am up in Boston so maybe we can catch up at a bike meet this summer.

Hi Emmett, The site is a great resource and we are here for you. Make sure your engine has good compression and you are golden. It just takes time and resources to figure the rest out over time.
Good luck on your project

Thank you for the kind welcome. I recently pulled the bike out of a shed, and only turned it a few degrees in each direction, as I had seen to use extreme caution on an engine that had been sitting. Once it is in my garage, I can look thru the intake, and plug hole and see if it will go 360. Maybe put some penetrating oil in as I turn it. Here's hoping.
