That's a great article.
I'm a little nonplussed as to the comment from the peanut gallery about fork seal and engine leaks though - the forks are standard-issue of the time from Suzuki (so I fail to see how they could be different from any other Suzuki which aren't reported as having leaky forks) and the engines are, again like every other Suzuki, very oil-tight in my experience.
Where did bike journos back in the day get those ridiculous chestnuts from?

Addressing a fork seal complaint, from memory and in hindsight, the sooner one could replace that factory fish smelling fork oil, the better

Remembering that early magazine issue complaining of the heat didn't do Suzuki any favors at all.
I did not save a few magazine articles myself that got me heated, too.
I will give the writer that it was hot, and he was not properly dressed from memory.

RE5s get no hotter than most other bikes, for the rider.
Some bikes became truly uncomfortable for riders when full-fairings first appeared - there's no way known an RE could ever be that uncomfortably hot...

Have you ridden a fully faired RE on a 40 degree day in stop start traffic!! You do not want that fan to ever come on!
About a month ago one of our members came up to my place. We swapped REs and mine was full faired and he was in shorts. He reckoned it was burning his left knee close to his tolerance level. And that was on open country roads on a mild day not to mention my needle never even got to half.
I think it can be tough for the uninitiated.
