Hi all,
Not been on for ages - too many projects, too much work and too little time.
I'm recommissioning the RE5 after about 6 years of being unused. Everything went well until I put fuel in the tank and it started weeping out of the fuel level sensor. Initially I thought the rubber seals had perished (they had) so replaced them with Dowty seals. Problem persisted.
long story cut short, the fuel is leaking around the sensor itself and dripping out from the square, red plastic insulator underneath. It would appear that the internal seal has perished as the whole thing can easily be moved a couple of mm.
Temporary fix was to carefully drill out the rivet holding the connector, take it all apart, clean, seat it all in fuel-resistant goo and reassemble, soldering the wire back on.
I know it won't last long so my question is where can I get a replacement / what other part might work to seal the hole (I can live with no fuel warning light if needs be).
Thanks in advance Rick

Fuel leaking at the sensor is a very common problem. If you use the search tab at the top of the page and enter " fuel sensor " many posts will come up about this problem.

After my last post I played with the search feature and found that there are many different threads with useful information.
" Fuel level alarm, what is the best sealer. " is another one to search.
Every change in the way you search seams to bring up different threads, but there is a lot on here.

Thanks Brian,
I haven't used PHP BB for ages so was trying to search with the magnifying glass icon top right of the page (with no success). D'oh!!
Yep, I have now found a couple of threads with pictures. I'll get a-readin'
