EDIT by Wayne: I believe this is really not recommended. Over redline they can chatter. You can see the marks around the perimeter of the chamber. But she certainly screams along.

Further to this, I've just been email chatting with a fellow who has over 500,000 klm experience on RE5's. He said in the early days he rode the bike very hard and after 25 to 30,000 klm lost compression which turned out to be broken side seals.
He replaced them and lost compression again in another 25 to 30K due to failed side seals. He then used RX7 side seals (these must be modified to fit) and never looked back. He also had problems with the O rings and from what he says, it could also be related to thrashing the engine.
