An incomplete list of currently available reproduction parts can be found HERE.[/a]
We're running out of quality parts and prices for some used items are at levels you'd never imagine.
We've a few people manufacturing parts such as Jess (JESS), Roger (HGH770N), Stuart (T140V). Jess has sourced manufacturers to make parts to spec (blinker balls and stems, electronic ignitions, exhaust extensions, check valves, plug adaptors to name just some). Both Roger and Stuart have reproduced parts themselves. Blinker lens, carby needles, enrichment valve fitting, instrument screens and more.
It's usually a struggle to fulfill minimum orders when required. Some projects have failed due lack of support (the manufacture of new primary chains being one example).
If you're sourcing a manufacturer to make items to spec, you're talking big $$$. Thus the minimum orders. What I've seen from Jess has been of the highest quality, your $$$ have been well spent.
If you're looking at manufacturing items yourself, you're talking big effort. What I've seen from Stuart and Rog also meets that quality standard.
To show how much work goes into these projects, and why we should support them, have a look at some items under development by Stuart. The effort, patience, persistence and ingenuity is just staggering:
Replacement Instrument screens. This is a replacement for the black top half of the instrument cluster with the bonded-in-place clear screen.
Here's the problem:
And the solution. The work and experimentation that has gone into this........
Experiments with threaded inserts:
Stage one complete. The black instrument top half out of the mould. The centre needs to be machined out ready for the clear face:
Centre of the finished case moulding now machined out. You should recognise it now:
Black top with the clear screen mould not yet fitted. Still lots of work to be done:
Remember those instrument screens we started with? This is how to finish your instrument resto!
Duck Tails anyone? A nice finishihng touch. I've found even NOS ones will split in no time at all. More of Stuarts reproduction experiments:
A failure. Ducktail has stuck inside the mould:
Success. And a flair for the artistic ducktail. Firemist Blue anyone?
Here's something rapidly becoming unobtanium:
Ready for finishing:
