Hi all, I’ve been a member since last year. Very grateful to all who have shared there technical information. I got my Re5 about four years ago, it was imported to theUK and I acquired it through eBay. The radiator had been left with water in it and at some stage it had frozen and burst the bottom edge. As a quick repair I packed it with car body filler, upon filling with water I noticed water pouring out of the oil filler cap. I though it could have been the mechanical seal of the water pump so I removed the side case and discovered one of the core plugs in the bottom of the case. This was replaced and the side case refitted. Next came the carb, I removed it and put it into an ultrasonic bath for hours ,I followed the procedure for setting up the butterflies with the use of a home made protractor and pointer. I could here the cdi unit whining but no spark from the plug. After reading on here about the plug adapter. I made one and used the R1 spark plug now I had a spark. The engine cranked over really slowly, so off came the starter motor, the four carbon brushes were rusted solid. I freed them off and reassembled the motor. I put fresh fuel in a made up tank and it fired right up. Since getting it running I have bought another radiator, now all I need to do is go through the registration process. Once again thanks to all who shared there valuable information, I don’t think I could have got it running with out it.https://imgur.com/a/HQwUM

Impressive start to RE5 ownership. You've done quite the job both in the research and more so in the application.
Post up a picture when you get it on the road.
