Question. My RE-5 still has a little flat spot when warmed up but is worse while warming up. My question is this. Does a properly tuned RE-5 have NO flat spot at ANY temperature?

A properly set up Re5 has NO flat spot... Period....Anywhere in the rpm range.
The only time it might hesitate, is if you whack the throttle from idle to WFO...
Best,
Jess

Thanks Jess. I definitely have the hesitation on heavy acceleration and I still have a bit of a flat spot. It's still fun to drive though! I sure don't see much effect when I mess with the pilot screw. This confuses me. I start with 1.5 turns but I can make pretty large changes with seemingly no effect. Large being nearly a turn in and a couple turns out from 1.5. I sure thought I remember Sam telling me to move this a "few degrees". I move it a few hundred degrees.

Thats not quite correct, you should be able to hear the engine go from a level idle to a slight loping idle when you turn the pilot screw within its range for setting the idle. Its very sensitive to adjustment on a carb where the pilot circuit is working as it should.

I have to agree with no flat spot. I had Jess tune my bike up and there wasn't any flat spot at all.
