I've recently acquired a 1975 RE5 (for free!) and I've decided to do a complete restoration with my kids as a bonding experience. From what I understand, this bike was parked ~13 years ago due to bad gas, and it sat outside somewhat covered for 12 years, and spent the last year sitting outside.
Anyway, it has about 10k miles on it. I've got it all apart and I'm cleaning/polishing/sandblasting/painting/etc. I would like to know whether or not to replace all the rubber seals. From what I can tell, nothing was leaking when it was parked, but that was a number of years ago. Having said that, it would be a real pain to replace these seals once the bike is back together. The heartburn comes in because money is tight and I'd rather not replace things that don't need replacing.
If there are seals that are usually a problem, I'd love to know which ones.
Thoughts?
Thanks, Garrick

Yes. Replace them all- they shouldn't cost much and the current ones will be old and perished.

Andynogo, I guess I knew that all along, but wasn't ready to admit it to myself.
This falls into the "while you're there, you might as well" category.
