Has anyone successfully removed the brown varnish/color from the brake fluid reservoir?
I tried washing it wish dish detergent. It's clear, but brown. Tried a touch of scotch bright, it did remove some brown but then made plastic cloudy.

i have found Some bleaching agents send perspex and vinal type transparent products cloudy.
I use a lot of cleaning agents at work and have found out not to use type of products on door flaps and screens.
Try a product with Ascorbic acid added . ie some brown sauce , Vinigar, or even Coca cola.
This may help , but maybe the bleaching has done its dammage.

Best idea yet.. Get a new one. I have two old ones. They have cycled through my ultrasonic cleaner pratty much every day for over a month with a host of cleaning fluids. Nothing whitens them. So, I got a new one. Just waiting on a 5/8 ball hone to come, and that will be one more step completed. |

For those who may not be aware...
Suzuki changed suppliers/manufacturers somewhere along the line with these reservoirs.
Original '70s reservoirs are almost clear (when in good condition and not crazed/sun-damaged), whereas new reservoirs are almost opaque.
I have a very good condition old (slightly brown but not cracked or crazed) on my RE and a new reservoir on my GT and the difference is quite startling.
The level of fluid can still be easily seen, but the new ones (whilst they are perfectly functional) do not look like the old at all.
There may be a perfectly good reason for this - perhaps the new are less susceptible to UV degradation?
