OK, so I'm finally getting around to the front brakes.
Refresher on my bike: 8000mile, original tire, black A, full fairing tour pack, no exhaust extensions, put away in a Texas barn in 1985.
The front brakes: The master will be rebuilt. The Splitter is like new. The calipers are like new, but will be rebuilt.
The hoses are plugged solid. They are still pliable. I assume the fluid has thickened to molasses level.
What are we using for brake hoses? Has anyone cleared the crap out of older hoses? Are GT750 hoses the same?
I am totally aware of hose issues, having worked on numerous old cars, but I believe these hoses have lots of life left. I remember Jess telling me to use two new braided hoses and a longer banjo bolt, but I think Wayne is rubbing off on me, and I would like to make it as stock as possible.
And, it is not because I'm cheap that I want to use the old hoses.... I'm going for an even level of patina on this bike, and new hoses would mean that I would have to maybe actually clean the dust off of the rest of it.

My brake lines were completely plugged as well from 20 years of sitting in a chicken coupe in Kansas. I took a coax TV cable and stripped out the copper core and used that to clean out the lines.

Gt750 hoses are identical with one exception. The hose from the mastercylinder to the splitter is shorter. The GT 750 handlebars are not swept back as far as the RE5 so it is shorter. It is a really good idea to replace the old hoses if you intend to ride the bike. The master cylinder to splitter hose is still available direct from Suzuki in the US as I recently purchased one.

Thanks, Guys.
I'll find a new cylinder to splitter line and get some 750 lines for the drops. I am going to ride this bike.

I ordered new hoses. Couldn't find a coax whip to strip out the center conductor, so I decided to order new.
Ugh. I like to restore what I have, but Brakes are important, I guess.
Just need a radiator, and I should be good to go. And stop.
