Jay Leno's does it, RE5's on youtube do it, mine doesn't. It's the chirp sound when the speedo cover is opened when the key is turned. Where does this sound come from? The horn? I have aftermarket dual horns (probably from a car) on my RE5 which is why I am thinking that might be where the sound comes from. They match the bike perfectly so I don't want to change them.

Do you mean the ignition? Back under the seat? Mine is more of a high pitch whine if this is what you are talking about.

I just listened to the sound again on Jay Leno's movie of his RE5 when he turns the key and the gauge cover opens and now it just sounds like the noise made by the cover when it is opened, not any outside source making the noise. I can't hear it with my RE5 because the cover doesn't open when I turn the key. I have to open it by hand with the key turned. My clear cover needs to be replaced. Some of the movies I have seen and heard on youtube, the sound is so distinct it makes it sound like an electrical sound like something from Star Trek. Now I know that it is not. Thanks for your input. It helped me to figure this out finally.

I just checked. My gauge cover chirps as well when opened.

It might becoming from the little S/S locking clips when the plastic section slides over them,,,,chirp chirp, Captain Kirk or when the locking tab slides of the little lip on the cover as the key is turned.. My present cover has issues too so i cant get mine to do either it till i replace it with a new one.
