Hello,
I'm painting my radiator. I decided on semi gloss black. Looked like it was not a full glossy black when I pulled the cover off.
What color did you paint your radiator?
Regards,

I used semi gloss heat paint, should do the job. Did not know about the eastwood radiator paint but I recognize the can. Eastwood is in my town, Pottstown PA. I go to their warehouse store at least once a month to look at their crash and dent shelf. They practically give the products away on that shelf. I've seen that green can there... The rust encapsilator is also a good product. I'm super happy they moved their business to my town, I save a lot on shipping!

In Australia, VHT chassis roll bar paint in SATIN is pretty close.
I asked Sam about the finish many years ago and he told me that he'd seen NOS radiators in satins and semi gloss. The individual contractors varied in their finishes so it isn't definitive but steer away from any full gloss finishes.

Painted the radiator cover. Used Eastwoods Plastic Adhesion primer and Eastwoods Argent silver. I love the Eastwood Argent silver paint they sell. Great for Honda casings. It look like I have the thin strip of metal on upside down for the oil cooler.. I'm coming up two washers short, so I think I used one too many? I believe the order is bolt, thin strip, cooler, washer, spacer. I have bolt, thin strip, washer, cooler, washer, spacer. www.cyclerestorer.com/pages/restoration_pics_view.php?%20bef_aft_row=21&td_var=41

That link as posted doesn't work. So I don't know what the picture is.
Personally, I wouldn't put too much weight on promotional pictures. They sometimes do not show the bike as it comes off the production line.
The large RX poster that I have from RR shows no strip but a washer under the head of the bolt. Two of the RE5's that I have here now came with washers as shown in the parts manual. The third had a touring fairing fitted, probably from new, so don't know.
If in doubt, send FCZach a PM and ask him to look for you. He has access to hundreds of rotaries and can probably give you the best assessment of how they came of the line.

PS I've just looked at some '75 magazine tests and could only find one picture that clearly showed the stone deflector. That bike does not have a washer. Dealer's choice.
Then again, I've just found another one in a magazine test that is registered and on the road but doesn't have the stone guard at all. I'd go with the FCZach option.

I remember that when the first RE5's came out many did not have the stone guards. Suzuki added these a little later. The first two we received at the dealership I worked at did not have the guards the third one we received had the guard.

I just finished painting the radiator from my GT750. I can now say that the Eastwood Radiator Paint is good stuff. Highly recommended. I already had the gloss before this thread was created and decided to use it as I am not looking for a perfect restoration on my dragbike. Just want it to look better and it looks a lot better. As stated previously, those who want the best, most original look for there radiator, get the satin. I'm going to get another can of the gloss for my chambers on my H2. Should be perfect for them.

Here's a pic of the painted radiator on my dragbike. Here's a good before photo for comparison. I took this picture the day after I got the bike.
