Purchased from RS paints in the UK, I have the correct base colour, the correct colour, and the correct metalflake, but , (once the base is on,) do I put the metalflake on, and then the colour on top of it, or the other way round, the Firemist orange, then the metalflake on top of that ??
cheers.

normally you put the base colour on first then mix the metal flake with clear coat and give it enough coats till you get the the right finish then apply a top clear coat to seal it regards mike

When you say "base colour" Mike, do you mean the base colour or the firemist red.
Sorry for sounding a bit thick but as a sprayer I know there are two options, I just want to make sure I do the one that gives me the right finish for the bike, if anyone fancies puting on a CLOSE UP picture of a firemist red panel I'd work it out myself.

Nice one Mike, that picture would be much appreciated, a real close shot if you're able to so I can peer into the paint. I'll use grey primer, then a silver, (almost oyster shell colour) as the ground base, then.....................well, that's yet to be decided obviously.
Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

Just to finish this post (in case someone finds it and needs the info in the future).....................
On your chosen primer, 1, coppery Silver base first, then 2, the copper metalflake (normally in lacquer,) 3 candy orange next, 4 stripe it up, 5 clear coat it.

Nice info. Don't forget to paint all panels for the bike at the same time with exactly the same coats- candy can be horrendous to match...
Do you have paint codes for those colours by the way?

Top tip Andy.
I probably do have codes for both the firemists, I'll have a look in my workshop over the weekend.

Had a look and both firemist orange and firemist blue only have "RS paints" codes on them Andy, the colours have the same code as the base coat so it'll be of no use other than through RS. Sorry.

Probably not as the RE5 was never released to the public in silver...
If you want to go non-original then pick a colour you like! I've seen silver and pearl white, both of which look pretty good with the polished cases and chrome.
