I have not herd of that one. I just went through my 2nd plug and I got about 300 miles out of that one, better then the first with 120 miles. This sucks we need a spark plug fix.

I've been using a adapter made from a old spark plug. The inside of the plug is drilled out (got two actually, one i keep in the tools tray just incase).
the adapter allows you to put a normal bike NGK plug for $4 into the bike and runs like a dream. No issues and still runs as good if not better then the original plugs, plus they last MUCH longer.

What regular plug do you use in the adapter? I just finished one my self, and I am wondering what plug to use in it.

What's the symptoms of a worn out plug? Is it a visual thing? Is it poor running? Both? How does the bike run with a bad plug, i.e. what are the symptoms???

I found with a bad plug it just didnt sound right and felt weak. I had it foul up and stop working when i stopped for a red light. Luckly i had a spare one and fired up as soon as i replaced it.
I now just use the NGK's (with convertor) they seem more reliable and bike runs like a Dream

Didn't Sam C work for a LONG time on this and essentially got nowhere?
In any event I'd like more info on it, please!

Hi guys,I seem to be heading in the opposite direction to you.My RE5A has a plug adaptor fitted and a normal size NGK plug.I haven't had many plug fouling problems on my M and want to use the original plugs in the A.The adaptor is screwed in tight and I'm trying to figure out how to remove it as there doesn't seem to be anywhere to grip it.I might try a nut on the plug to try and lock the plug body against the adaptor to unscrew it.Or is there a simple answer?Cheers,Shaun.

And herein lies the problem with plug adaptors... Due to the prevelent design, once they are in the engine, if they become stuck, how are they removed?
I have had two experiances with plug adaptors. (someone in Japan was making them and selling them on ebay) Both were stuck in an engine...
One I was able to remove with an easy out... I felt very lucky and told the bike's owner that he dodged a bullet.
The second owner was not so lucky, he required a new engine, as when the plug adaptor galled and became stuck, it pulled the sparkplug insert from the block, destroying the engine.
I wish you luck, and patience Shaun...
At this point in time, RR does not recommend plug ANY plug adaptor. The dangers outweigh the percieved cost savings.
I am currently working on a design that I believe addresses some of the inherent problems of spark plug adaptors. As always, if it is economical to have made, I will consider it.
On the other hand, spark plug adaptors will kill any attempt to fund having the correct spark plugs redsigned and made. Sam designed and was getting ready to invest a huge amount of capital into having spark plugs manufactured a few years ago. I personally tested some prototypes that were an outstanding replacement. When the person in Japan began selling plug adaptors, Sam shelved the project due to simple economics.
It is an interesting conundrum.
Just my 2 cents...
Best,
Jess
