Hi guys,I've got a DKW W2000 basket case/wreck to restore.Engine stripped into lumps.Rotor and housings completely stripped in boxes. The rolling chassis is mostly together but needs a lot of work. The electrics look the worst. Is this the right place and forum to post any pics of it and my attempt at rebuilding it,seeing this is the RE5 Message board.Just wanted to check with you before I post anything.Don't know if I'll ever get it to "as it left the factory" but I would like to TRY and save it .Think it's going to be a long job.It has the seperate oil tank/feed under the petrol tank.Shaun

Oil injected bikes are very rare... so good for you!
We also have parts for the Hercules/DKW.
Let us know if we can help.
Best,
Jess

Thanks Steve for your encouragement,I will post some pictures soon of the project.
Thanks Jess,I will definately need your help with parts etc. on this project. The petrol tank isn't painted but the docs. state red as the colour.Frame no. 480005140.I think it was manufactured around Sept.1975 .I've seen injection models with plain black and plain blue tanks but all the red ones I've seen [with injection] have the red tank with black insert.Did they make them with just plain red tanks?Would make the respray easier! Cheers,Shaun.

Oil injected bikes were single color tanks with pin-striping. In the case of a red tank, the stripe would be white.
Red is a VERY rare color for an oil injected bike.
I have three (red, oil injected bikes)... I will get a good photo of one and send it to you or post it here if I can figure out how.
Looking forward to seeing her.
Best,
Jess

Here is the way a red oil injected tank should look... All hercules tanks were pin striped by hand... Best, Jess Attachments:

Looks good Shaun. An interesting project. Perhaps, one day, I may find one myself, who knows. Good luck with it. Please post some pics to show us how it progresses. Nick

Hi Steve,I think I have all of the rolling chassis parts,I forgot to take a picture of the exhaust. The engine I'm not sure about. The gearbox is complete, looks like the rotor unit is there but stripped. There are some new bearings and seals. Will be interesting when I attempt the engine rebuild.Cheers Shaun.

Thanks for the pics of the internals. I love seeing different rotary engine housings and rotors. I bet its hard to find rebuild parts for that.
