I came across this site by accident. I owned an RE5M in the 1970's and have regretted selling it. It was a brilliant bike. I often wonder might have been, had the RE5 been successful Would there now be an RE3, RE7 RE10 or dual rotor, in the RE family. ? Would it have become a Gold Wing? or more a sports bike ? Would it now have EFI, twin spark plugs, shaft drive, turbocharger etc. Partnership with Mazda ? When I think of what might have been. Keep up the good work guys, keep the RE5 running.

Thanks for joining and posting. I haven't been involved with the RE5 long enough to think of what might have been but it is an interesting thought. I wonder what would happen if the RE5 was produced again now as a modern bike. Gas mileage certainly would have to be addressed in order to sell in todays market.

I am sure with fuel injection the fuel consumption would have improved. I often think of the RE5 2010 like a Gold Wing. Shaft drive, fuel injection, duel Mazda spark plugs and full touring rig. Nice to dream !!
