Hi, does anyone know if the re5 forks are the same as those for a 1974 GT750L model, (this model has the chrome covers over the fork seals). My GT has later model front forks and I want to change them. I dont care about spring rates, I'm only interested in the externals. thanks

I don't know off hand but you could check the part numbers.

Currently, the part numbers interchange. However that doesn't mean the parts manufactured back in 1975-6 were identical...it just means the parts currently available fit both bikes interchangeably. Quite a number of part numbers were superceded over the years.
If you order from somebody like BikeBandit.com you need to specifically ask if a part is superceded or genuine NOS or it will look entirely different.
I found this out buying GT550 brake parts and TS250 electricals. What you get may look nothing like what the parts manual shows, but it will fit.
