Ok so it's not the dreaded oil topic...,but what do you do to prepare your bike for winter. If you're from the southern hemisphere, how did you do it?

All I do is put on a bike cover inside garage (its always on anyway) I also take out the battary. But I do start it once in a while until it warms up to mid temp.

I fill the tank and add (red) Stabil and marvel mystery oil in the gas tank. I have in the past not drained the carb. I have started and run the bike once a month or so to move the gas. I keep all the bikes on a battery tender. One down fall of running the bike vs draining the float bowl is not warming the exhaust enough. Trying to way the pros and cons of running it.

Just my two cents... Do the things you talk about...(fill tank add stabil)... But I ALWAYS drain the carb. Simple to do, brass 12mm screw on the bottom of the carb. Pull the spark plug... Throw a couple squirts of oil (Castrol GTX20-50, of course) in the spark plug hole and rotate the engine through a couple of times by hand. Put the plug back in. You should be good to go(engine wise) for the four, or longer months of winter in your area... Good coat of wax on everything, place bike on center stand... fill the tires to max pressure, throw a cover on her and away you go... For Longer periods... I get both tires off the ground to avoid flat spots... over the winter (a few months) shouldn't need to... Again, Just my two cents... Best, Jess
