Hi there, Strange how things go.... Ive been asking around in my circle of bike mates for years now if any knew of an RE5 for sale. One mate got back to me and said he knew of one, possible more than one, which may be for sale. So I went to view it/them and in all there were 6! Instead of buying just one, like any normal person would, Ive bought four of them. The seller wished to retain the other two. Three are M models and are complete and ran about 3 years ago. The A model has the engine out due to a gearbox problem. Im hoping to have one on the road very soon, maybe 2 or even 3! Looking forward to taking it to my local biker cafe, which is Squires near Sherburn - in - Elmet. Photo of them taken today as the bikes arrived on my log-in picture. Cheers!

Congratulations...……. or commiserations LOL. You're not the first one to enter the slippery slope. Hard to tell from the picture but they look like decent bikes. Post up some bigger ones when you get a chance.

I got the first RE5 started today, it took a long time on the starter then off it went! It will only run on full choke and it sounded more like a large angry duck farting in a biscuit tin. I assume it needs the carb cleaning, which I will do on the weekend. So far, great fun!!

Welcome to the forum.
Just a precaution from others, be careful not to overheat the starter. Also follow precautions here on first starts.
Congratulations and keep us up on the progress.

Its been two weeks now since I bought the RE5's and Ive learned a heck of a lot about them! Im never out of the garage!
Out of the four bikes I bought, three were complete which all now run, in a fashion, and two have been on the road today!
Bike 1. Mileage unknown. Runs terrible, more work to get it roadworthy.
Bike 2. 3600 miles on clock, appears genuine and long-term stood. Complete and in good condition. I cleaned the carb etc. First run conked out at the end of the street. Second run the same. Found out that when I shut the choke off the flap stayed in place, so over-choked and cut out. Once fixed did 4 miles on it, ran terrible, reluctant to rev, but got me home with a big smile.
Bike 3. 16,900 miles. Complete and in excellent condition. Cleaned the carb etc. Runs the best so far, revs better with much less hesitation. Much bigger smile!
Plan for next week - concentrate on bike 3 with a target of getting to Squires coffee bar on it next weekend, which is about 20 miles away!
Great fun!!!!!
