The sprag clutch in the Re5 is a common design and used in MANY different makes and models.
The sprag clutch in the Re5 is of uncommon dimensions. I genuinely hope someone finds a replacement, it is needed.
Just my 2 cents.
Best,

Charles,
The one that you linked is a very common design. That type is used in many different applications, motorcycles included, from my research.
That type, is the type that is used in the RE5.
If you can find one that has the same dimensions as the RE5, you will have had much better luck than myself or Sam. I wish you luck.
In the group buy thread that is now closed, recounts my efforts to try to find or have made a replacement. I’m not going to rehash that here.
I hope you find one that is the right size or a size that can be used with little modification. I have had no luck....
Best,

Today's exciting update:
*Notice* : This is for a GT-550:
An RE-5 ad:
waditup is out of the office until late April of 2020. At least we know that the GT-550 used the same or similar Sprag Clutch.
Mo' later.
[Note: I couldn't get back to the ads. If you get to ebay, put in 12650-34020, you'll get to the GT-550 ad. The RE-5 Sprag Clutch has been sold.]

Just a little FYI, I did the 850 shaft thingy years ago. I determined that the final output shaft of both transmissions were interchangeable with just the addition of a couple of snap ring grooves. I then cut the transfer case off the 850 and adapted it to bolt to the RE tranny in place of the sprocket cover. I also had to adapt a clutch mechanism from a 450 suzuki twin to povide more clearance. It all worked on the stand but I never finished mounting it into the 850 frame. Ended up selling it to a guy in England who bought all my rotary stuff at the time. 10 yrs ago.

I Think i have your gearbox with extended shaft. I stripped the Box to build a unit up for a member. I still have the shaft and cut casing in the UK.

I will send Wayne photos if he would be so kind to post them on here. That's terrific! There was alot of significant machine work that went into mating that up. The machinists friend that did the work put initials into it freehand on the mill. It would be great if someone were interested in taking on the project again. I guess the guy I sold it to decided not to. I might even be interested in having the modified parts back just to display in my garage. Thank you for posting it up here.

Very beautiful. Thank you for the pictures (BTW, very interesting Casting differences between the 2 cases at the lower left view of each)!
As I said, Worthy Project. The GS-850 was made for this kind of work (The GS-650 holds an interest as well for a particular reason...). Much more to write about but not for now. I simply want to look at this for a while.

That's the tranny case. Do you also have the gear case for the shaft drive gears as well? How did you come by it?
