Hi I am having a problem with the plug fowling after a comparatively short time. It tends to whisker like a two stroke running too rich. I have put in the plug conversion. It starts very easy with little choke and does not smoke. I haven't touched pilot screw as book says not to. Any ideas? I am in Essex in the UK. Thanks Mark

Mark. If you screw pilot screw all the way in the engine should stall , back the screw off 1 1/2 turns and then fine turn it with fractions of a turn either way . The reaction isn’t instant so be patient. Check your air filter. Also check what primary jet you are running on. Regards Roger Stafford UK

Welcome to the forum Mark. If possible to post a close up of a plug that has deposits, our collective minds may also help.
I would also ask, do you drive your bike each time you start it ( warm it to operating temperature) and what oil(s) are you using?
Tim

Tim, firstly yes bike gets ridden once started and I always take for ride. I had an RE5 in the seventies when they were new, did 22000 miles in two years rode in rain, shine and snow and although plugs were a problem even then not like this, so very frustrating. I will do a plug shot but may take a little time as I won't be riding for a couple of weeks. Regarding oil I am using Castrol Classic XL 20/50. Regards Mark
