I have a UK re5m with I suspect a set of original flattish uk handlebars. Being over 6' tall I prefer the usa style handlebars and have a set on my gt550 and gt750. I have recently purchased, what I believed to be, a USA re5 handlebar. It certainly fits but seems a bit high. The switch gear still reaches which is a good start.
I have a question... how high is the rise on the USA handle bars. These ones are at least 7". I think an inch less would be best..... I will need to get a top brake hose made to fit.

hi nairb you will find that the trottle cables and the clutch cable are also longer . and the switch gear leeds might be abit short.

Do you want another set of the US 'bars?
I'll gladly do a swap of my US 'bars for lower ones...

Here is a pic of the original uk bars and the supposed re5 usa ones..... As said in other threads in this forum the usa ones are large and "cowhorn" like. They do seem that way. So I finally took the usa handlebars off my GT750L. They are somewhere between the 2 types above. The good news is that the cruzinimage top brake hose fits fine. As does the switch cables and the clutch(gt750) cable reaches fine. I have not tried the throttle cables. So those usa bars will not get used. Another set of usa gt750 bars need to be found. I expect they are similar for most of the gt750 range. I will keep the uk bars. Maybe the next owner would want is back to original.
