... by the rotary bug . Hi everyone . Just joined the forum b/c I'm searching for a decent RE5 here in Canada after 34 years of riding reciprocating mahem . I remember when I was a kid and the local Suzuki dealer had 2 of them which he couldn't GIVE away . I would sit on them probably 50 X a year each time I visited the place , but wasn't able to convince my father to buy one -- kind of like that Ferrari GTO that got away in 1981 ! Would appreciate any pointers on serious issues/problems with the bike that I should look out for . Thanks .

Just keep your eye out for a good deal. I just picked mine up for 1k in good cosmetic and running condition. I don't think there are many rotary specific issues. Mainly just look for one that was properly maintained like any bike. It has its issues being a 30+y/o bike, but its truely unique. The carb setup is also unique, but not too crazy. You always have the option of swapping to something simpler or more modern when it comes to carb, cdi, and spark plugs.

I think your best option would be to look for one in the States .Not many in Canada.Mine came from the states years ago to the UK .Picture taken at Classic Mechanics show some years ago Attachments:

I'm afraid the US will probably be my focus b/c , as you've pointed out , our snowy home doesn't have much selection . So there are no crucial design flaws with the bike ? What about cracking of the rotor housing ? Thanks for the replies .

Hey Guru
Welcome aboard. No need to be affraid about looking in the USA for your RE5 I have a few searches that i have saved in my poota and just refresh them to catch any new listings and I have posted a few in the sale section here. I have just purchased one in Indiana and its been picked up and will eventually reach me here in Oz. Cant wait. Areally good site to organise your shipping and moving the bike is called Uship and if I can do it all they way from here it will be easier for you.
Good luck
Paul

One of the services Rotary Recycle offers is finding bikes as well...
Also, if you buy a bike, you can have it shipped to our facility, and we can tune/service/repair/restore as well.
I have put many buyers and sellers together.
If I can help... Feel free to call.
Best,
Jess
