Rebuilding my spare carb and I am baffled by the "primary Pilot Jet"
This jet sits outside the top cover and I have been unsuccessful at getting it to flow. Appears to have a round steel ball that is stuck, but can't understand why it sits outside the cover. Does this jet not flow through. Never seen this before.

Does this jet not flow through. ?
Hi Mark,
You are correct that there is no passage to the top. The o ring is important to seal. The jet is first to clog as it is the
smallest in the carb. Check that it flows from the side holes to a good pattern out the "inside end" . I hold the side holes covered with
my fingers and with one remaining hole open, squirt carb spray out the end jet and look for a good pattern. Eye protection is mandatory
ask me how I know. Good luck as with your best efforts, you may be repeating the procedure. Hope this helps.

That explains it. Thanks. It was the only thing that made sense but not something I had seen before. Ordered a new one as it is available on line but it will now be a spare
Appreciate the help. Starting to learn how to learn other than the hard way. Love the bike and its many unusual designs.

The jet you are referring to can have a plugged hole - take some small stranded wire and take ! wire out of the strand. It should fit into the hole at the tip.
