I think that is close to $48.00, good and I would guess shipping is expensive if price is affected by weight. After many cross country vacations, a good chain is a requirement for me and I have removed perfectly good o-ring chains before a trip as a precaution. A continuous link and /or rivited link is a must for an extended trip. I have close to 8-10 extra master links I bought only for a missing spring clip before I learned.

My Norton Commander has 208,000 miles on the original chain and I can't ever recall adjusting it either. It is a stock 530 Renolds chain but fully enclosed with rubber gaiters top and bottom and a cast aluminium rear hub.

Big difference in maintenance costs there! Joe, does the wheel removal for tire replacement become a big chore?

Hello Tim,
No problem removing the rear wheel on a Commander or Interpol 11 they use a quick detachable rear wheel onto a splined shaft leaving the sprocket in situ. You can't actually see the chain without dismantling parts. The only time consuming part is the rear brake caliper and bracket removal, even the rear mudguard either flips up out of the way or is quick removal depending on the model. I suppose it take around ten minutes, fifteen at the most to remove a wheel. Renolds advise chain replacement after 250,000 miles but I am aware of a rider of an Interpol 11 (Air cooled Norton rotary) with 450,000 miles on his clock. He bought the bike from new on a Friday and returned it to the factory on Monday for it's first 1000 mile service. The bike is now retired to his garage but he still has it.
Regards, Joe.

Thanks for that. The mileage is amazing. Retirement is well earned and equally well deserved bragging rights for sure.
