Hi all I have this bracket which I know came from the motor I currently have apart. I was certain I knew where it came from but it was a while ago that I stripped it. I have another engine partly dismantled at the moment and it doesn't have this bracket (or at least not where I thought it came from!) I cant even find it in the parts book so now Im starting to doubt myself. Does anyone recognise it?
Ive no clue how to add a photo to an image despite reading the instructions. Heck even creating a Flickr account was tricky
Hopefully this link will work?
regards Terry

Hi Terry, I don't recognise the bracket unfortunately. Don't worry, I too have a "mystery bracket" for more than 10 years ago. Could swear I pulled it off the bike.
Re the photos. Go to your picture in Flikr. Click on it so that it is the only picture shown on your screen. In the bottom right of the screen there a few symbols, one is an arrow pointing right. Click on this (it's "Share"). At the top of the box that will come up there are a few options "Share" "Embed" "Email" "BBCode". Select BBCode and you'll get a long link. Copy the link and place it in the message you are writing. Delete all the rubbish before the letters [img) and after [/img). That'll work.
Edit your post above and have a look what I've done inside your message to make the picture available.
Cheers,

Looks a bit like the bracket inside the sump on the lhs. Take outer sump cover off (the one with the fill plug on it)and you should see it in a vertical position in the middle, secured by two of the bolts that hold the sump/stator side plate onto the baffled sump/proper unit.
Maybe!

Hi goandy yep that's where I thought it went, does it point up or down? I cant see it in my parts book so was it on all engines and I wonder what the purpose was. There was a 'wear' pattern on the end but it doesn't seem to match up with anything. When I couldn't find it on the other engine I started to wonder! Hey Wayne why don't you post the picture of your mystery bracket and we can play 'whats my part'. We can see who the real Re5 anoraks are :-)

Good idea Terry. Many years ago our very own Andy levelled an Anorak accusation my way (why, I've never figured out...)
But going by Andy's continuously developing knowledge base and vast store of useful advice, I think the pot's getting pretty black these days

Ok so I continued assembling that engine today and as I thought and Goandy confirmed, it does go in the sump and seems to act as a keeper for the little metal scoop at the bottom of the proper unit. So now we just need to sort out Waynes bracket regards Terry
