Your engine and frame numbers put you roughly in the first 1300. Most likely manufactured November or December 1974.

Roger Thanks for your frame number. "RE OIL" I was thinking it may have been a earlier number than that , My earliest bike is 100626 and that dose not have RE OIL It has the dots on the start of the rev counter, dose yours have dots or solid line? Rog,
Suzuki began production at 10053.
Your "earliest frame number" has one digit to many... If we presume a typo that the actual number is 10062, your bike is 10th off the line and a very early bike indeed. The first 30 bikes approximately 10080-85 (no one knows) were used as corporate giveaway/quick sales to executives/officials/marketing as was common in business then and today. 10062 was possibly given/sold to Suzuki UK as a bike to help promote the Re5... who knows?
The first shipment to the US started at about 10085.
If it is 10626 it is 574th off the line. Still early, but not particularly.
Don's bike is 1559 off the line. As they made close to 6300 units, Don's bike is "about" one quarter of the way through production. In my experience, it is near the end when they stopped using hard oil lines (BTW... A GUESS, because the records, if they even kept them, don't exist).
Don's bike is great and fantastic... because it's Don's bike. Is it particularly Rare?... nope.
It is "rare" because it is an Re5 and they only made about 6300. Once it is running and riding, It will be more rare as there are so few that do what they were intended.
As always... Just my 2 cents. Your mileage may vary.
Best

I'm gonna go out on a bit of a limb here, but I reckon those spark plugs will be great as keepsakes, but no matter how well you clean them they'll never be usable...
Sort yourself out with a plug adapter to use R1 (Yamaha) plugs and never look back.

In my notes I've collected over the years I have written that the change to the oil cooler started at frame number 12,081.
I have no idea where that came from. It's validity is anybody's guess. The note continues to say that retrofits were available to dealers so, if true, that would further muddy the waters.

PMC, Jess has an adapter, and a few other key items waiting on me. He's a couple of hours away and i plan to head back to his place and drool over his bikes when I go to pick the stuff up.

Sort yourself out with a plug adapter to use R1 (Yamaha) plugs and never look back. I'll second that. I've never had luck with cleaned plugs. They might last 50 k, invariably fail in rush hour traffic, half way up a hill and in the lane furthest from the kerb. Go the adaptor.

Jess I agree , all RE5's are rare and special to the individual owners . My 10626 was indeed a Typo with the extra "0" , It was a early bike for the UK , Infact the "First European Road Tested RE5" ( HGH 770N)
