Hi the parts book shows the speed sensor relay was not fitted to the A model but just a blank plug over the wiring connector where the relay would be. Does anyone with a genuine A model know if there is a jumper wire in the 'blank' connector? It seems without the sensor there is no power to the points
I have an A model, in appearance anyway, no vacuum switch fitted but it still has the B points in place. Build date is 3/75 so Im picking it was converted when new?
Anyway it has not run for many years and Im trying to get it running for the owner, without the speed sensor relay fitted there is no power to either set of points. With a relay plugged in from a spares bike there is power and the bike runs.
It seems to me that without a jumper wire in the 'blank' plug to bypass the relay an A model wouldn't run, which is plainly not correct, so is there a jump wire or is the wiring loom different on a genuine A?
regards Terry

There is a part number difference between M and A models for wiring harness "B" (the big one with a huge handful of plugs at one end). There is no difference for wiring harness "A" or "C". Might be something in it but I can't help beyond that.

It sounds like that is it.

I have an unmolested Model A, and another somewhat disassembled Model A, I think I know what you mean. A picture would help. I'll try to remember to have a look tonight.

Here's a photo of the wiring harness in running condition. Wire over frame with two black wires going into white connector comes from the points.
