I came accross a blog where RE5 was mentioned and from there the person who is writing the blog (i think the partner of the guy with the RE5) sent me the phone number to call the guy . She also mentioned that he is part of the staff of the BUBB team. Cricky BUBB dont muck around thats is Dennis Manning and he has built a streamliner to go around 350 m/phr

An update on the RE5 salt bike.
(cut and past from blog)
He made the record, but... Heart of Michigan passed tech inspection for an alternative source motorcycle. Michael made four runs and gained 4 mph on each run. He topped at 95 mph. Michael made the fastest run on the Bonneville Salt Flats with a rotary engine motorcycle. The bike handled beautifully. However...
Once he went back to tech, the officials changed their minds for the type of motorcycle he was running. Since they changed their minds, they will not allow the record to be official.
They may change their minds back and let the record stick, but until then, I told him that he has to go back next year to make it official.
I will update if the mind changing happens before he leaves.

95 mph? I was figuring that my stock bike could come close to 100+, going by the road tests I have read. Must be the landspeed bike wasn't modified at all?

I had mine up to about 85, might have been able to squeeze another 10 out of it. Cool to maybe have an official speed.

I'd love to know more about this. What event is he running at? Speed Week (scta) or the AMA/BUB? I run a '53 Studebaker out there. This year we ran a super-charged flathead Ford V8 in it and set records in XF/BFALT abd XF/BGALT. I thought about running the RE5 out there but by SCTA rules I think it would be an Omega class engine -- running against Turbines of unlimited displacement. I would really like to see what one of these motors could do out there.
