Ok, which direction to undo the Alternator rotor bolt...... is it Anti clockwise to undo. and that pesky nut on the end of the contact breaker rod . Is that Anti clockwise also to undo. I did check the re5 fsm but I did not see any advice on the undo direction Ta Nairb

Yup, all anti. I use a Makita 1/2in cordless rattle gun- gets them off in a flash!

Thanks for that. I have tried a small & medium Makita cordless rattle gun..... but neither shifted one bit. I became a bit concerned that they might undo the opposite way. Its time to use a bigger gun then.

Another question about the direction to undo the 32mm nut on the RHS of the engine retaining the counterweight & primary sprocket and timing gear. Is it anti clockwise. The RE5-FSM does not say.... or did I miss it. The clutch nut came off fine.

Ta Nairb Nairb, You are right , counterclockwise to remove. Just stick a socket with extension in one of the holes in the counterweight to secure. Tim

Thanks Tim. I wanted to be sure before jumping up and down on a very tight nut that I really was undoing it.

Well this rhs 32mm nut is made of stern stuff. I have almost lifted the bike off the centre stand while undoing this nut. The impact driver had no effect. Pressing down on the bar almost bent it.
Time for a bigger nut remover....
