Hi every one, just started on working on getting it running again. My dad has had it from new but has not run since 1992 Ive been around it all my life and not much interest. Dad pasted little over a yr ago and I've grown a interest in it to get on the road again (just under 7000 miles) on it . Been inside last 20 yrs. it's not locked up. Haven't tried starting yet, I want to get things coed out alittle before trying. I've clean carb which I need 1 gasket that is bad. I read about a oil filter on here and got 1 of those and I am working on trying to free up the throttle cables. Is there any things to really look at before really trying to start? Ive been reading a lot of other post to try to get answers and has been helping a lot. Any input is greatly welcomed thanks

1. I suggest running a compression test before, spending a great deal of time on any unknown bike. Kicking it with the kick starter is meaningless.
2. I would also oil the rotor unit proper via the spark plug hole and spinning the motor slowly with the rear wheel, while in gear to make sure the apex and side seals are well oiled before doing ANYTHING to the bike. Well meaning owners do all kinds of damage by trying to start a dry bike.
3. Read the service manual, cover to cover, at least 5 times before putting a wrench on the bike.
Good luck with your project.
Regards,
Best regards

Thanks for the input on oiling, I would've never thought of that.
