Yes, I see what you mean in that second photo of the right side of the bike. Looks like that rear half of the seat slopes up a bit more than it should, just like it had been used as a centre stand aid.
The little "kick up" I refer to is just the last 1" of foam at the very rear of the seat. Some seem to have it more than others but universally the AM seat covers pull the foam down at the back. You can often see the outline of the little ducktail underneath the AM seat cover in the original foam.
I wonder about that left sidecover knob. I wonder if, when he bought the bike originally, he started to think that because the right cover had a knob, then perhaps the left had been lost. I know I fell into that trap as have others. Perhaps he had one made up thinking it was more "original" than just a plain old screw and keen to keep the bike what he thought was 100% (after all, who the heck would put a plain screw in when they had a shapely knob on the other side.......no figuring Suzuki logic).

Hmm...
I reckon that's what's happened to that seat I bought last year to replace my original one that got damaged. The base is in really good nick but it's twisted fore to aft - when you sit it on a table the rear of it sits up about an inch on one side.
A previous owner using it as a lifting handle perhaps?

I'm under the opinion that all bikes had a chrome wide head screw for the oil tank side cover. I thought I would check my new seat and it also has the last 1" kick up however, I have some white peanut packing that has stuck to the upholstery. Maybe a breakdown of the packing after all these years. I'll have to try something gently to remove the stuck insulation. Tim

Tim, you could very carefully try using some naptha or lighter fluid to remove the residue... or mineral turpentine... maybe test it underneath on a bit of the seat cover and make sure it won't strip the vinyl...

I had seat covers made at great expense. Needless to say as soon as I did, eBay sellers appeared that charged less for theirs than mine cost per unit. As soon as the parts popped up on eBay, my sales went to almost zero, as many owners only appear to be concerned with price. When reproducing a part, it only makes sense to have a certain quantity made, so I have cases of mine in storage. I ordered one from pit replicas to see how they could make one so inexpensively, The short version is, you get what you pay for... To date, I have never had one of my covers returned, or even heard any complaints. With regard to the bun, I looked into having them made. I had to weigh the cost, as to how many I might sell, and it was not a wise investment. Any competent upholstery shop can recreate or cut foam to make a decent bun. A gt750 seat is not even close... As Wayne as shown. Just my 2 cents... YMMV. Best, Just put a Pit Replica cover on mine. I find it acceptable. Of course it's a lot better than the torn and duct tapped original stock cover. It is only a reasonable facsimile. Not exact.
I didn't know you had them or I would have given you the business. Guess I should have searched the sight better.
