John S's beautiful "custom" M model up at Australia's Charlotte's Pass last weekend for the annual charity Snowy ride. Can you spot the "custom" (as the engineers intended is his excuse). Elevation 5,773', about as high as you get on the tar in Australia. John said that the bike didn't feel much different and in fact the altitude smoothed out some of the minor "characteristics". That might be telling us something ?? Bike stole the show of the 2000 odd machines that turned up disturbingly attracting even the attention of the local coppers. John couldn't make a short stop anywhere without having to answer all the usual.........

It started life as an M, has NOS A instruments, welded sidestand foot pad, full set of radiator hose bling, replica GT750 blinkers and no kickstart (but it does have the little spline cover). And IKON shocks but that doesn't count.
As John claims, none of that ugly Giugiaro designed rubbish, the way the engineers intended. But he just likes to be contrary.
Cheers,

I actually kinda like that "ugly Giugario designed rubbish"...
I've always been a little strange... (but it is kinda rubbish, qualitywise)
Those kickstart covers are rare as hell... most of them got binned. I have one, maybe two somewhere in my collection.
Looks a little like my White rider that you rode when you were here.
Nice bike... glad you fellows had a good time.
Best,

Actually, so do I. It really throws the bike into the "love it or hate it" category. I have one of the kickstart covers as well, very kindly sold to me by one of our UK board members (it has its own little Perspex display case ). I'd use it but I like showing off my gooseneck kickstart lever (geez, what a nerd !) I really liked the look of that white bike. I haven't given up on the white touring bike as yet, gotta save up for the paint job though, retirement's a pregnant dog (yeah, right ! Lovin' it )
