Ok fair enough . Once I save a good amount of money I can always find a beater for the cafe project . Makes sense
I see no reason why you can't build a second bike, too.....
That's a beautiful Norton creation.

Hope it's something simple and please excuse the silly remark, did you plug the CDI back in after your compression tests?
I have found the points get a film on them, clean off with TV tuner cleaner or electrical contact spray after dressing them.
Check that the resistor plug cap isn't open and/or the plug isn't real high resistance or shorted.

Love those easy fixes! Don't forget to set your timing again after playing with the points- can affect the timing by quite some margin

Ok need some motivation again . Starting to get the rotary frustration . Had lost spark , ended up being point was not moving . I moved the point and spark again and off course out of gap now . Gap it yesterday and the bike turned on again left it on for about a min , turned it off to mount all the parts back on . Tried to turn it back on and nothing . I have not touched the timing yet . I think the point is worn out and not gaping correctly . The cam had some rust in tt and was sanding down the small block on the point . That's just my theory . should I take braker out and set everything from scratch ? Or should I just get new point? Battery also went dead on me yesterday old battery

You need a good battery to crank the RE5 engine, I have a motobatt smaller physically but far superior. Regards Stuart.

Points are a little harder to find than you may think.
Take them out, clean them up, clean the breaker cam and reassemble it all. Put a drop of grease on the rubbing block.
Get a new, hot battery, and see what happens.
Best,

One more idea, if you had all that rust, make sure the rubbing block on the points hasn't broken (very rare) which would allow the movable point to ground out, and always check the timing as Andy suggests by the service bulletin.
