Hello, Just rebuilt the transmission in my '76 A. Now that it's back together, I seem to have an extra oil seal for the clutch release rod. The parts catalogue lists two identical seals (09285-08006). This has been a multi-year process and I have no recollection of removing two seals and can find only one original that I removed. I put one new seal in the outside of the transmission case and could find no other opening along the clutch rod path where a second one might go. Am I overlooking something?

Yes, there are two seals. I think from memory they go in facing opposite directions.
I think the good news is that one is in the case, the other in the removable sprocket cover housing. One in the cases stopping oil leaking out of the transmission and one in the sprocket cover keeping the grease lubricating the ball guide in.

That's great news! I'm glad to know the second one is not inside the case. I'd hate to remove it --again. The drawings in the parts catalog seem to show the seals facing each other and this would explain why. Thanks very much for your help.

I've just replaced the 2 seals, there is one one the outside of the gearbox case next to the sprocket and the other is on the casing that you remove to get to the sprocket, at the back of the clutch release mechanism.
