It seems to me that large % of RE5 owners worked for a Suzuki dealer at some point, just curious how true it is. I'll start with a NO vote.

Does it count that I was trained/certified by Sam?
Not sure how to answer this one...

I think anybody certified by Sam is probably more certified than Suzuki certified

I worked the parts counter at a Suzuki dealer, and hung around in the shop. Does that qualify? Jeff

At 16 years old I managed to replace the spark plug of my Suzuki AC5O!(WOW) Half year later I tuned all my friends Suzuki AC50 with bigger inlet disks,18mm carburators, bigger pistons .... to make them go 80 km/h and more.!(some seized their engines after a few days...as they did not break in their engines)I guess that also does not qualify to be a Suzuki mechanic :-)

Suzuki mechanics must not like to admit they are Suzuki mechanics since they haven't responded yet?

Yes i was trained and certified by suzuki gb. And we had two suzuki re5s in the shop in 1974 we sold the first one a firemist blue in 74 and a firemist orange one it was still in showroom in july 75 and i felt sorry for it and purhased it my self in august 75 and loved it to bits. Sold it 12 months later for a gt 750 and wot a mistake i made.and then and then pushased my latest one 37 years later so i have a great passion for the re5.

I stripped my 1st RE5 down in 1980 when i worked in a Suzuki/Honda/kawasaki dealer from 1977. No one working there had been RE5 trained and they never sold a New RE5 only the X demo one i bought that may have come from Steve W's shop. I'm not sure if 35 years of RE5's qualifies me . LOL.

Hi rog im sure your better qualified than most suzuki mechanics i bet a lot of them never touched an re5. the first one we sold at the dealership only lasted 1000 miles and came back in with no compression and went back to suzuki for a new proper unit but i put it down to the owner because he trashed it from cold .when i got mine i used to warm it up to the first mark on temp gauge before i even set off and did 10000 miles trouble free in 9 months and it went on to do about 35000 miles and i believe it is still running reg no NHE 500 R picked the number myself with working for the dealership 500 R for 500 rotary .steve w

Steve. I met the owners wife of your bike at Lutterworth show last year , I will sort out a photo. It had a front number plate on it as mine did in 74 . 1st time mine lost compression i had a new unit from Geoff Monty and then split my old one open to find a cracked housing and then wandered how they were put together and there my training began. My bike HGH 770N shows it was from Southwest London ( Croydon) Suzuki GB
Will you be going to Stafford Show ?

No, six years as a Navigator in the M. Navy then spent the next 33 years washing coal, but had bikes since I was 14.
