Hello Plipton, Interesting, good find. I don't think this is an engine for an OCR 1000 but most likely for the sprinter bike, it's not new and has been fitted to a frame which doesn't use road bike mounts. The engine covers aren't the same as found on a road bike and I think different to pre production machines too, also this engine is twin spark which OCR 1000's aren't. The twin sprocket though is definitely fitted to the sprinter and the decals on the oil / water heat exchanger cover are the same as found on the sprinter. I have a few new unused stickers somewhere in my collection. If I've done this right, here's a link to the sprinter bike. www.kreidlerdatabase.nl/95000/OCR_Sprinter.html It's quite pricy too and there is currently a new but dismantled genuine Van Veen OCR 1000 engine for sale on eBay for under half this price. regards, Joe.

Thanks Joe and Plimpton,
Both interesting links for sure.
Years ago a club member had both an RE5 and a beater van veen bike he had bought used. Comparing them both he said the Van veen was smooth and Fast in comparison.

Joe,
Do you have a link for the new OCR 1000 engine on ebay? I can't seem to find it...
I would like to have a spare for mine.
Thanks!

Hello Jess,
Bear with me please, I've just installed a new operating system in my Mac and I'm now getting used to it. Hopefully I'll find the link and forward it to you.
If this helps you track it down beforehand it's on a German eBay site but the non auction site, the one which only has telephone numbers. I bought a spare fuel tank for one of my Van Veen's last year on the same site and I think from the same seller. Typically though the very next week another fuel tank came up for sale which was cheaper although unpainted, without fuel sender and decals.
Regards, Joe.

Any other help would be appreciated.

Hello Jess, Found the link, I hope this helps. You'll need to practice your German because if it is the same seller whom I contacted before he doesn't speak English. kleinanzeigen.ebay.de/anzeigen/s-anzeige/van-veen-wankelmotor/241931512-306-17014?ref=search My spare engine was still in a crate and is a genuine Van Veen engine but I'm sure you already know the Comotor 624 engine although manufactured specifically for Van Veen complete with Van Veen engine plate/ number still requires a fair bit of work to go directly into a bike frame. The Van Veen engine was sold with a carburettor and manifold both of which were altered at the V.V. factory and won't fit unless altered. The Citroen engine was sold with a distributor only....... The water pump requires modification as it still retains the twin belt pulley as found in the Citroen Birotor along with the lower twin pulley. The water pump body requires machining down in height and diameter along with the drive shaft to fit under the engine outer cover. The front cover or right hand side cover (not the outer cover) was also replaced as it still has a distributor drive and gearing part of which was utilised for the Mikuni oil injection pump drive found on the OCR 1000. Additional breather vents were also included in the modified V.V. cover along with the relocated oil filter location. The oil/water heat exchanger cover was also specific to the bike and of course the original location for the oil filter was blanked off. Ger Van Rootselaar in the Netherlands can carry out this work for you if required. Regards, Joe.

Hello Jess,
Over the years I have been offered a number of Van Veen engines, probably around six or so. The next time one comes up I'll let you know.
My spare is engine number 156 so I'm sure there is still plenty available.
Regards, Joe.

Two new Van Veen OCR 1000 engines for sale from Germany, complete with carburettor. These are brand new unused engines and genuine OCR 1000 models (not Citroen) but will need to be altered to go directly into a bike frame. The water pump, Vee belt pulley, intake manifold and carburettor will all need work otherwise ready to go.
PM sent to you Jess.
Regards, Joe.
