Hello folks! Nice board you have here. I live in the extreme S.E. corner of Ct. and have 2 "75 RE5s. One is a pretty good rider with total fairing hard bags and trunk (and carb hesitation). The other with only 1100 miles has a single stuck tip seal. I'll be posting asking for help on that one in the tech forum soon. Other bikes are 2 '83 Honda Magnas and a '39 Harley flathead. You'll be hearing from me, count on it!

Hi Dean and welcome. Sounds like you have some really nice bikes. I had a 53 Panhead for 20 years. Sometimes I wish I still had it. I hope the board will be a good source of help for you with your RE5.

Stuck seals are dodgy...
I have know RX7 guys that say fill the proper with ATF and let soak... But this should only be used as a last resort as ATF is caustic and has been known to eat rubber.
You may unstick the apex seal... but loose the seal between water jackets...
The safest thing to do is dissasmble the proper. But that requires very specific tools.
Best of luck. Keep us posted.
Regards,
Jess

Welcome to the board. I live in MA on the RI boarder, near CT and go to Deep River, CT often. Let me know if I can be of help.
