Hey all, I was glad to find this board. I have acquired a 1975 re-5 through a family friend. It has been garaged since 1977. I have rode the bike around my neighborhood. I am curious of the going rate to sell this bike. I would say it is in great condition considering its age. I was able to get it running. Filed points, cleaned tank, flushed carb, changed oils, and inflated tires. It has about 6700 miles on it. It was last tagged, inspected and insured in 1977. The bad - master cylinder was froze up. I was able to disassemble it. It has small amounts of rust pits on some chrome areas but shined up nice for a car-show here. I bet carb could use a rebuild but no leaks. I will try to post some pictures this weekend. Thanks

Hey, These where taken at first wash and removal of front brakes. I will try to post final clean up images tomorrow. Some of the surface rust came off real easy. I repainted pipe guards and radiator plastic cover. All else is original paint. master cylinder and calipers where reinstalled for show. thanks again Thomas

Thomas, You and I have very different opinions of what is "great condition for it's age" I would say that the bike is in fair original condition. I can only say what I would be willing to pay for it, and my guess is that I would offend you... This is what I would say is great condition for it's age.. To be a very nice original would require a whole lot of time and effort as well as more than a few dinero Also... Odo shows 329 miles... How do you get 6700? Where are you located? Worst case... put it out on Flea bay and see what it brings... My guess is someone will pay about 2000.00... I wouldn't... but that is me. Best of luck... Jess

Two bikes (Both M models) that presented much better (IMHO) sold last week on flea bay for 2000 and 2500 respectively... As I always say... Just my humble opinion. Best, Jess

Thanks for replies. i just needed an idea of what kind of price to look for. Jess you have a very nice looking bike. Again this one came straight out of the garage with no cleaning buffing or anything (yet). I was going to strip paint (before realizing it was 1975 original paint) to try and airbrush (my hobby) something on tank. I removed master-cylinder (still have ) to try and see what was wrong with it. I also have chain guard but it wasn't on it when I got it. As far as 6700 for odometer. The bike was dropped by original owner and fixed by dealership. I have original speedo also. He then quit riding it in 76-77 hence the past 15 years that (I personally know) has been in a garage. I live in Rocky Point N.C. but bike was in Wilmington N.C. most of its life. Thanks for price check. I am going to try fleabay. LOL! ;D

You might do better selling it on ebay. Depends on who is looking and how bad they want one. It's worth a try.
