You are probably correct on the leaking petcock. I used to have the same problem leaving a mess all over the side of the engine down onto the exhaust. I rebuilt my petcock which didn't help any, now I have a small ball valve inline that I shut off after every ride.

I've confirmed the petcock is leaking, so one problem down! I took the fuel line off, and drip drip drip drip drip drip. I'll deal with that once the snow starts to fly. I really want the automatic vacuum shutoff thing to work, so I'll see what I can come up with once it is all apart. I had replaced all the seals, but didn't mess with the vacuum operated portion.
The trans grindy... The bearing is replaced, and that seems to help somewhat, but I still have the issue. I'm certain it is that chain flopping around in there, because if I have a rough idle, it's there. I'll monitor the other thread on grinding/harshness and see how that pans out.
Thanks everyone for all the suggestions and help! Garrick
