if you dont know anything about the rotary unit buy the best 1 you can afford and make sure it is running as a rebuild can be expensive and certain parts are not available any more.as we have said before on this forum beware the phrase it was running before it was parked up,many on here will help you with any problems or questions also search the topics posted and have a good read, there is a wealth of info on this forum regards mike p.s welcome to the wonderfull and weird world of the re5

Wise words. I bought a "it was running fine when I parked it" which when started belched out smoke that the (old) USS Michigan would have been proud of, had a massive clutch/primary chain rattle and then threw all the coolant out as the main rotor unit coolant seals are shot. Still, it had good compression which is something.
The engines can be rebuilt but it's a bit of a task. Have a good read through this forum then go and buy a nice running but cosmetically imperfect bike.... Jess at Rotary Recycle has just about every bit you'll need except for rotor unit internals and a few nice repro parts as well.
Good luck and keep us posted!
Andy

Its no big deal, will still take one in any condition, Ive Been A Rotary nut for a long time. RX-7's, O.S engines Wankel, arctic cat fitchel and Sachs KM914, Ive owned and serviced them all, with the support of the Internet and this Forum i could tackle it. And i know the parts are becoming rarer and more obscure, but arent most of the odd ball Suzukis?
Please Reply if you find one for me! i would love to add it to my collection!
Regards, Justin

Nice. Prices do help though, and also what sort of spares do you have? I'm sure you'd be able to sell some of them through here if listed with prices.... GLWTS!

The first one definitely has A model gauges and rear signals, even though the ad says "For sale 1975 Suzuki RE5 Rotary motorcycle. Restored and was certified then rode one season and then put in storage. Serious buyers only need to respond." Front turn signals are completely missing. Wonder how long it's been in storage.

Yes, non standard colours, description, no indicators, painted headlight ears, GT550 seat etc. Still an RE5 and no doubt any prospective buyers would be looking at the price with those things in mind. It can all be out back to standard fairly easily- but obviously bikes like these will never get top dollar simply because they are not as per original. Doesn't help when there is no mention of price tho- I usually can't be bothered when people say "give me an offer" because they always have a price in mind and they get upset when I say I'll give them 50 bucks.

Ok, the blue one is sold. I had the signals lights old barrel guages ,tail light, rad grill extra breaker points , and other parts in a box safely put away. I never liked that style. The original seat went with it but it needed recovering.I have a saddle seat and fairing still for the black one . the guy came tonight from Michigan with his F350 truck and bought the blue one running great for 800.00 dollars with the extra parts. He bought the spare parts bike almost complete but not running ,good engine for 400.00 dollars. I have old Kawasaki's and suzuki's still for sale with the black bike. I can't keep the storage place so everything is going.
